Stardust (arr B. Geldard) - Ed Horsey and The University of Manchester Brass Band

Stardust (arr B. Geldard) - Ed Horsey and The University of Manchester Brass Band
Written in 1927 as a Jazz instrumental, Stardust became one of America's most popular songs of the Twentieth Century. Lyrics were later added and covers have been done by musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie, Nat King Cole, Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart and Michael Buble. It was first made famous as a Trombone Solo by Jack Jenney and later by Don Lusher. It allows the soloist to display silky smooth playing in their higher register. The University of Manchester Brass Band was formed in October 2011 by Jonathan Evans, Jonti Smith and Sebastian Huckle. The band provides regular performing opportunities for brass players in the University through the brass band medium, and consists of both music and non-music students from The University of Manchester, with the addition of several members from the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester Metropolitan University. Many of the musicians on show have performe! d with some of the finest brass bands in the country; including Brighouse & Rastrick, Faireys, Leyland, Rothwell Temperance and The International Staff Band. Several of the band are former members of The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain (NYBBGB), The National Youth Brass Band of Wales (NYBBW) and the Territorial Youth Band of the Salvation Army (TYB). The band also features former members of The National Youth Wind Orchestra (NYWO) and The National Youth Orchestra (NYO).
