In both her portraits and landscapes, Susan captures and conveys the emotional aspects of what she sees. "I want to bring the viewer into my work through a strong line or vigorous brushstrocks, which reflect how I feel about the subject." Susan works in oil, pastel, watercolor and charcoal. Trained at Parsons School of Design in New York City, Susan continues to challenge herself and perfect her craft through intensive study with nationally and internationally known artists-teachers who have included: Graham Nickson of the New York Studio School, Hollis Jeffcoat, Daniel Greene and Tom Nicholas. Susan teaches drawing and painting in her studio, is an award winning artist and her commissioned portraits and artwork are in private collections in New York, Boston, St. Louis, Atlanta and Naples.! Her numerous solo and group exhibits reflect her long and successful career as an artist. ARTIST STATEMENT Drawing and painting the figure is an obsession with me. Discovering the essential feeling I experience with the person I am painting and trying to capture the uniqueness of a person through color and form is what motivates me.
